Description
This course is designed to help learners develop the essential administrative, accounting and financial knowledge and skills which form the basis for a career in industry, commerce or the public service. The course comprises both theoretical and practical modules, and learners will gain an understanding of both manual and integrated book keeping and payroll software. The course gives learners a solid foundation in the academic, practical and personal skills required for progression to further or higher education or directly to a career in the business area.
Business Studies students, who complete the Level 5 course, will have the opportunity to continue onto the Level 6 Advanced Certificate in Business course and on completion of the Level 6 in WCFE, successful graduates will progress to Year 3 of the Level 7 Bachelor of Business (SE 415) via Advanced Entry, applications normally open in April.

Minimum Entry Requirements
- Successful completion of interview.
- You must have achieved 5 passes or 5 06/ H7s or a combination of 5 06/H7s or have achieved the LCA with a Merit profile, or have achieved a full relevant Q0I Level 4 Award.
- Mature applicants (aged 21 and over) and other applicants without the formal entry requirements will be assessed individually for suitability.
Work Experience
Work experience placement in a range of local office environments is an integral part of this course. Students must obtain one day per week work experience for the academic year in a relevant environment. The day will be specified by the College.
