Introduction to Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)

This course is suitable for those interested in psychology, particularly in psychotherapy and counselling skills. It is designed to offer the participant an insight into the area of counselling looking at some of the approaches and techniques used by psychotherapists today, specifically Cognitive Behaviour Therapy and Mindfulness.

Cognitive behaviour therapy (CBT) is a psychotherapeutic approach: a talking therapy. CBT aims to solve problems concerning dysfunctional emotions, behaviors and cognitions(thoughts) through a goal-oriented, systematic procedure in the present. It is particularly useful in dealing with depression, stress, anxiety, eating disorders, addictions, etc. Mindfulness is increasingly recognised as a valuable intervention in counselling internationally.
