Christmas Day &Charity Events 2014

Christmas Day 2014 & Charity Events at W.C.F.E

Christmas Day celebrations were recently held at the College, including a number of fundraising events, an intense sport and fitness challenge and a live performance by sound engineering students on campus. The College was alive with Christmas spirit and daytime parties and festivities were topped off by a huge night out in local nightclub Eden. Most of the events also raised money for local charities, keeping up the WCFE tradition of supporting its community. Some images of the day feature below;

Beatician Charity Fundraiser

The Beauty Therapy Dept. recently ran a 'Pamper Me Day' for charity, which raised a staggering 575 euro in just over two hours. Pictured are Patsy Sheridan, President of the Waterford Lyons Club and staff and students of the Beauty Therapy Deptartment, W.C.F.E

 Sponge Throwing Challenge

The Sponge Throwing Challenge tested human endurance against an ice cold bucket of sponges. Everyone paid a donation to charity each time they threw a sponge. It soon became evident that some people had been training for the event.......

Glenda Gilson visits WCFE

Ireland’s very own super model and TV3 presenter Glenda Gilson, recently drew a capacity crowd of hundreds of WCFE students and staff to the Theatre Royal, as part of the College’s annual lecture series. The lecture drew the largest audience yet in what has been a hugely successful year for the event.  In a slight change to the usual format, an audio visual element was brought to the lecture and a tutorial on fashion was included. A selection of top- of- the- line outfits were provided by local companies such as Penney’s, Top Shop and Fitzgerald’s Menswear. The WCFE Hairdressing Dept., fresh from scooping a host of national awards, also showcased some of their award-winning hair creations and fashion design, which Ms. Gilson analysed from a visual and marketing perspective.

Waterford College of Further Education staff and students recently ran a series of fundraising events to raise money for regional charities including The Waterford Samaritans. Donations came in thick and fast on campus, averaging a staggering 200 euro per hour of activity just from the College community alone. A total of €1116.22 was raised over two days. Events included a raffle, cake sale, car wash and unisex waxing.
