Introduction to Law
Course Description
Are you confused
about legal practices, do you feel daunted by the law?
This course is suitable for those who wish to gain a
general understanding of legal principles and to enable
them to appreciate the role of the law in their personal
and vocational lives. It is also intended to encourage
learners to further study in the area.

Course Content:
1. Introduction
to the Irish Legal System
2. Introduction to the Law of Tort
3. Introduction to Criminal Law – a summary of
road traffic law and a aspects of Irish Criminal Law.
4. Introduction to Irish Contract Law – determining
when a valid legal contract exists.
5. The Small Claims Court Procedure – Practice
and Procedure.
6. Consumer Protection Legislation – An Analysis
of the Sale of Goods Legislation and EU Law Consumer
Protections.
7. Landlord and Tenants Rights – a look at the
Private Residential Tenancy Board.
8. Employer and Employee’s rights – a summary
of the Law in Ireland relating to unfair dismissals
and redundancy.
