This course offers the chance to read literary texts with an experienced tutor. The theme this year is character, and the texts to be looked at after Christmas will be The Grass is Singing by Doris Lessing, and The Collected Stories of Catherine Mansfield. In each class, selected extracts from the text are read together, and the tutor offers further information on topics like historical context and the author’s biography. Students are expected to provide their own copies of the texts.
